Adaston's Wrapping up an Exciting Project for Swindon Borough Council!
Adaston are proud to announce the near completion of our Project with Swindon Borough Council, involving the the replacement of 246 flat entrance doors.
Alongside our overall delivery, a primary objective for the project was to produce genuine social value for the local area, which we achieved in two key ways:
- Creating apprenticeship opportunities;
- Donating to Swindon BC’s chosen charity; @The Night Shelter.
As we were unfortunately unable to provide placements to new apprentices due to the short length of the programme, we instead offered an experience of working with fire doors to 6 of the councils own apprentices, inviting them in teams of two to work with us on site for a week.
In addition, we arranged and funded them all to complete the ASFP Level 1 Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection, improving their wider subject knowledge of both PFP and Fire Doors.
Feedback
We couldn’t be happier to hear they had a fantastic time on the project, and the feedback we received from one of the apprentices that took part in the programme was really positive:
“Shawn was very polite and welcoming, he was able to answer any questions I had about the fire doors including the maintenance of them and how to gain entry without damaging the product. The blokes they had us working with were great! full of information to pass on and willing to get us stuck in and helping out. They showed me some new techniques and useful ways of using the different power tools. Overall I would say that the experience was definitely worth it and was filled with new things that I have learnt like how to maintain these new doors and what procedure they have to go through with each of the steps knowing that we have the right documentation for the doors so we will know what we need in future”.
Conclusion
As we near the completion of this important project, Adaston is proud to have contributed to both the physical improvement of Swindon’s community and the development of future talent. We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact wherever we work, delivering not just quality projects but meaningful impressions for the people and places we serve.
