Newly Built Community Hospital

Services. Survey And Remediation Of Fire Stopping Issues

We were commissioned as fire consultants for a newly built two-storey community hospital to assess the compliance of the passive fire protection and oversee any necessary remediation work.

In order to obtain approval from the Primary Care Trust, the new hospital’s fire safety design needed to meet stringent Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) requirements over and above regular fire safety legislation.

The hospital had been built to include theatres for minor surgery as well as inpatient and outpatient services and the occupants were therefore at a particularly high risk in the event of fire.

After surveying the building we developed a plan for remedial work and issued daily progress reports.

Once all work on site had been completed we carried out a final survey report demonstrating that all areas previously identified were now fully compliant.

Adaston has a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector and understands the unique demands of any fire safety assessment and remediation in such a high risk setting. We work effectively with architects, contractors and other stakeholders to keep everyone updated during progress and provide final testing reports. As well as identifying urgent issues, we make additional recommendations for remediation work that may not fall under current legislation but which we believe represents best practice and can avoid further work down the line when disruption would be more significant.
